The island of Puerto Rico is located in the north eastern Caribbean just east of the Dominican Republic. It sits some 1000 miles off the coast of Florida. The Archipelago has a number of smaller islands the main ones being Mona to the west, and Virques & Culebra to the east. In August of 2007 Derrick Mayoleth, & Taino Almestica completed the first circumnavigation of the island by sea kayak. Come and hear Derrick share his thoughts, photos, and videos from the expedition. |

Saturday afternoon's Coast Guard Rescue demonstration provides a visual example of what it's like to be rescued by emergency service. Join us the next morning (Sunday) to debrief the rescue scenario with the leader of the rescue crew. We'll focus on how kayaker's can be safe in open water and work with rescuers, instead of against them, in an emergency situation. l |
